Clean Air Advisory Panel report - Impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on air quality in Wales

We are pleased to announce the first report published by the Clean Air Advisory Panel. The Panel is an independent and expert group which provides advice and recommendations to Welsh Government on air quality matters in Wales.

The Panel has considered key questions posed by Welsh Government regarding changes in air quality during the Covid-19 pandemic between March and October 2020 and the implementation of intervention measures.

Air Pollution in Wales 2019 report published

We are pleased to announce the release of the latest annual air quality report for Wales.

The report covers the WAQF's activity in 2019 and important policy developments since the last report was published in 2019. As usual we review the latest trends in air pollution measurements and implications for policy compliance as well as maps of Air Quality for NO2, O3, PM10 and PM2.5 in 2019.

The area of special interest this year looks at Covid-19 impacts on Welsh air quality. The health chapter looks at the new Public Health risk assessment tool for outdoor air quality in Wales.

Analysis of Covid-19 lockdown on local Air Quality in Wales

Following the implementation of COVID-19 restrictions in Wales the Welsh Government commissioned a review into the impact on air quality of the lockdown period.  We are pleased to publish the provisional analysis of this data taken from the Welsh Air Quality Network, covering February to May 2020, alongside analysis of the data from a public health perspective by Public Health Wales.

The provisional report outlines trends in Air Quality data for NO2, O3, PM10, PM2.5 and Black Carbon during the reporting period.
